390 uphill and the #4 stroke hole. Regulars will tell you it plays like the hardest hole on the course. The number lies; the hill doesn't.
Playing the flat yardage on an approach that climbs, then coming up short, again and again, into the front of the green or the bunkering guarding it.
Uphill plays longer, so the raw number leaves you short. On the #4 handicap hole, that short-sided miss is exactly how the field turns a routine bogey into a double.
Add a club (sometimes two) for the climb and aim at the center of the green, not the flag. Pin-high in the middle is a good result here; par is a great one.
≈ 0.4-0.6 strokes on the card's toughest stretch, by taking enough club to actually get there.
Yardages are from the white tees on the official Monmouth County Parks scorecard; par and stroke index are course-wide. Strokes-saved figures are approximate expected-value ranges for a mid-handicap golfer (roughly 8-18), not guarantees. Aim guidance is general course management. For a hole's exact bunker and green detail, walk it with the yardage book.
